Designing Background
I have a background in Diversity and Cultural Studies within the Psychology and Sociology field, along with experience in different art and design styles (sewing, crafting, decor, furniture building, etc.). I combine these skills to provide clients with unique, personalized, and trendy ways to carry out their projects and creative visions. My tool/skill kit allows for efficient and large scale set designs, beginning to end organization and preparation for events/retreats/training, as well as supporting clients who are venturing out of their area of expertise to complete those personalized creative projects they envision. My design style is storytelling, accessible, multi-purposed, non-traditional, shapes, colors, and adaptable. I think design can be a powerful tool for showing people that new and different is always a possibility. I use spatial design to heighten potential, show perspectives, and create more approachable environments. I value people seeing themselves included in art and design, so I design through a lens of being trauma and social identity informed. |
Brand Goals
My long term brand goal is to open an art residency studio space. It would be a multi-purpose rent-able studio/gallery space and community center. While I do recognize that there are many gallery spaces in Detroit that have been presenting amazing exhibits for years, I just hope to add to that community. My vision is to create a space that houses all aspects of the creative process. Creativity is interdisciplinary and has the capability to expand and evolve when introduced to different perspectives. Providing spaces for different mediums of art to be made; whether you do pottery, painting, wood work, studio photography, dance, music or simply need a temporary space to work on/practice what you do best. Then offering gallery space to the artists working in the studio or other local artists. The community center connects the different aspects together; people would be welcome to view and buy from the gallery, take classes to learn different types of art, rent space to host small events, or have a space to be around others with common interests. Breathtaking experiences or events are not the result of a one-person show. Through collaboration and maximizing support in areas of weakness a masterpiece can be developed. That is why AXR Creative is always open to networking and seeking out other brands, creatives, artists, and/or designers to join forces to create an extraordinary story through art and design. Feel free to let me know about any of your events, projects, or businesses that I can possibly show love to and support. |
